Matthew - Director
I have overall responsibility for the Gardens, including setting the strategy and managing the staff team, collections, and day-to-day operation. My favourite part of the gardens is the Spinney, particularly in the summer, when it has fantastic light coming through the tree canopy.
Zoe - Business manager
I head up the Business Management team, who look after the public facing and operational aspects of Ness, alongside delivery of the Ness strategy. Ness is an incredibly special place and I feel honoured to be part of it’s story. My favourite aspect of the garden is the sense of history, knowledge and beauty present in every nook and cranny.
Kate - Operations manager
I look after all things visitor related at Ness, including coach trips, visitor experience, the Ness Shop and our vast team of volunteers. My favourite part of the gardens is the view from the top of the Mediterranean Bank over the Estuary and on to Wales, absolutely beautiful!
Jen - Events & membership manager
I joined Ness after graduating in 2008 and have now taken on the role of Events Manager which consists of looking after the Events and Weddings business at Ness. After such a long time you could say I have become part of the furniture! Some of my favourite things about Ness are the Rock Garden where our magical wedding ceremonies take place and the wildflower meadow where you can sit back and enjoy a cuppa whilst looking over to the Welsh coastline. Bliss!
Rose - Education Supervisor
I have worked with schools for many years, starting with my conservation work early on in my career. This led me to take on roles with the Catalyst Museum in Widnes and advisory roles with Wirral Council. I use the expertise I gathered during that time to create science-based educational activities for students and pupils who visit Ness. My favourite part of the garden is the Mediterranean Bank because many pollinators can be observed on the stunning array of plants there as well as the spectacular views of the garden and beyond.
Rob - Membership Administrator
With my colleague Andrea we run the Members of Ness Botanic Gardens scheme, it's hugely popular especially in the summer months when Members have exclusive evening access to the Gardens and special excursions. The Membership provides vital support for the upkeep of the Gardens. Whenever possible I take a walk to Woodhenge (although I’ve never got up early enough to see the summer solstice sunrise!), it’s a fascinating ‘hidden’ part of the Gardens and the walk down has fantastic views of Wales.
Andrea - Membership Administrator
I assist with keeping the membership scheme running and compile the monthly newsletter for members.I am very lucky to work in a place which is so full of history and beauty. I love the fact that whilst my job is office based I can step out of the door and into one of the most beautiful places in the area. One of my favourite parts of the Gardens is the view as you first walk out of the Visitor Centre into the Gardens, down to the estuary and the Welsh Hills!
Tammie - Visitor services assistant
I am one of the Visitor Service Assistants and I work in both the Visitor's Centre and Mickwell Brow. My role includes looking after the needs of the volunteers as well as the visitors who visit Ness Botanic Gardens. My favourite part of the gardens is the rock garden. I just think it is a beautiful area and so tranquil with the pond and the bridge.
Alex - Visitor services assistant
Hi I’m Alex, Visitor Services Assistant. I am based predominantly in the Visitor Centre, supporting our Admission Desk volunteers, assisting in operations and gift shop merchandising. I have been at Ness for nearly 2 years now and I am proud to be part of such a friendly, close knit team. One of the best things about the job is that no day is the same but most of all being able to get out and explore the gardens
