About the gardens

Arthur Kilpin Bulley, founder of Ness Botanic Gardens, possessed a progressive and welcoming ethos, which we seek to echo in all areas of our work.

Bulley wanted to ensure that everyone had access to beautiful plants. His words of “Welcome friend, welcome stranger, welcome one and all!” remain at the heart of what we do at Ness today.
