Music students were thrilled to welcome Oscar-winning composer Danny Elfman onto campus for an insightful talk last week.

The legendary Hollywood music maker was in Liverpool for a series of concerts by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, featuring his famous scores from Tim Burton films, as well as his percussion concerto.

He generously donated his time to visit the University where students had an incredible opportunity to ask him questions about his stellar career, as well as more general questions about being a composer for film.

The RLPO is a strategic partner of the University of Liverpool and students benefit from this collaboration in a number of ways, including industry input into teaching.

Aspiring composers coming to the Department of Music can study an MRes Music specialising in composition, or the MA Music and Audiovisual Media.
