On the eve of Taylor Swift’s arrival at Anfield, we invite scholars [including undergrads and postgrads], fans, critics, and musicians to an interdisciplinary exploration of the singer’s many eras. We invite 15-minute presentations on an array of Taylor Swift-focused topics, which include but are not limited to:
- Music and songwriting
- Touring
- Fandom / Swifties
- Ecological impact
- Digital platforms and social media
- Lyrics as literature
- Music videos
- Taylor’s versions and rerecording projects
- Artists and influences
- Anglophilia
- Animals
- Collaborators
- Fashion
We particularly welcome interdisciplinary responses beyond this list to add depth and insight into this cultural icon. We encourage a mix of paper presentations, workshops, performances, video essays, and more; please specify format below.
Please email your contributions to taydayliverpool@gmail.com by 1 February, 2024. Submissions must include:
- a proposed title

After the study day, please join us for a Tay Day Cabaret, which will include musical ensembles performing arrangements of Taylor’s songs and karaoke hosted by the organisers. Email us at the address below to apply to perform.
