The Applied Music Research Lab is looking for volunteers to participate in its study on music playlists for mood regulation.
Music listening is commonly used by people to cope with negative experiences by alleviating negative moods and feelings. In our research we are developing strategies to use music effectively to improve one’s mood and creating tools that help listeners identifying the best music playlists to achieve their goals.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate one such tool - a new music recommendation system (POLYHYMNIA) that creates personalised music selections for achieving specific mood regulation goals (e.g. feel less sad, relax, energise). Our aim is to know whether POLYHYMNIA is a valuable tool for helping people regulating their moods in efficacious ways.
The Applied Music Research Lab is an interdisciplinary research group based at the Department of Music from the University of Liverpool.
