Dr Nicola Bermingham is a specialist in Sociolinguistics. Her research interests include minority languages, education, and migration. Dr Bermingham is currently working on a project entitled "Monolingual Schools in Multilingual Societies: An Exploration of Language and Education in Cape Verde". The project explores the ways in which access to inclusive and equitable education can be ensured in multilingual, post-colonial contexts. Dr Bermingham has also conducted extensive research on language and immigration in Galicia, Spain.
Dr Bermingham welcomes applications from PhD candidates working in areas of Sociolinguistics such as language and migration, multilingualism, and language ideologies.
