Mentorship
We are committed to ensuring that strong mentorship arrangements are in place for all fellows in order to support your personal and career development.
Professor Anne Barton, Mentorship Lead, will oversee mentorship activity and will work closely with appointed Fellows to create a personalised mentoring plan tailored to your individual needs.
Mentors will be identified from outside the immediate supervisory team and training will be provided on how to optimise the mentor-mentee relationship, as part of the general training programme.
Typically, fellows will have two mentors, one from academia and one from the industry partner they will be working with.
Clinician Scientists are encouraged to register with the Academy of Medical Sciences and participate in the mentorship programme available. Each Clinician Scientist will be expected to contribute to peer-to-peer mentorship of one Clinical Training Fellow and mentorship training will be provided early in the training programme.
Fellows will be encouraged to form informal networks, such as a virtual Teams groups, to provide peer-to-peer support outside the formal mentoring process.
