Teaching programme
Fellows in the scheme will be supported by a fully integrated education and training programme, designed to reflect the lifecycle of medicines from discovery science, through to licensing, implementation, and real-life use.
The programme focusses on training in experimental medicine, precision medicine, drug safety, artificial intelligence, and data science. Through this, Fellows will be equipped with knowledge and skills in state-of-the-art and emerging techniques and technologies that underpin translational science.
We place a strong emphasis on important underpinning skills such as leadership, ethics, inclusion and diversity which will be critical to Fellows’ individual projects as well as their careers beyond their fellowships.
The training programme offers the opportunity for all Fellows within the scheme to connect, share research ideas and work together to maximise the impact of their work. Through this approach, the programme will foster a dynamic collaborative network, connecting individual Fellows and creating links across all scheme partners.

The curriculum is supported by four cross-cutting themes:
- Leadership and development
- Regulatory sciences and ethics
- Patient and public involvement and engagement
- Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI).
Programme delivery
Our programme will be delivered primarily at twice-yearly, two-day teaching conferences which will take place across Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow and London on a rotating basis. As well as dedicated teaching sessions covering the programme’s curriculum, plenary sessions led by outstanding research leaders in academia and industry will be key parts of each teaching conference. Each conference will offer a session for Fellows to provide a project update, share their experiences and offering peer-to-peer mentoring and support.
Mentorship
We are committed to ensuring that strong mentorship arrangements are in place for all Fellows in order to support your personal and career development.
