Elective Photo Competition 2024

The School of Medicine is thrilled to announce the launch of the Elective Photograph Competition 2024, inviting year-four students taking part in their upcoming elective placement to capture their unique experience.

The competition aims to celebrate the enriching experience an elective brings to student doctors and to highlight the invaluable exposure to new disciplines or different healthcare systems.

Document your experience

If you are taking part in an Elective this summer, why not document your experience and enter this year’s Elective Photograph Competition? Whether you spend time in a new cultural environment or are undertaking an original research project, we would love to see how you spend your placement.

Showcasing previous entrants

The winning entry for the Elective Photograph Competition 2023 was taken by Student Doctor Semay Baydar. Semay spent four weeks honing her skills in an Ophthalmology department in Vietnam. Here, staff celebrated a combined birthday lunch for Semay and three other colleagues – with local dishes and cakes galore!
