Published on

A glitzy Strictly come Dancing evening at Liverpool’s St George’s Hall has raised over £4000 for Claire House and Wirral Mind. The event by Liverpool Medical Students' Society (LMSS) saw six couples compete to be crowned the School’s Strictly Champions.

LMSS Charity Secretaries Jacques Hyde-Tissier and Michael Horton praised the six amazing couples taking part in the event. Congratulations go to the winning couple, celebrity Max Roberts partnered with professional Bethany Conlon, who took the crown for the evening.

“This wouldn't have been possible without the Artefacts Band, headed by Katie Byles and Hope Pugh, and the opening dance for the evening, choreographed by Artefacts Dance Directors Lily Jones and Yasmin Tunnah.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in such a special evening, which managed to raise £4296.12 for Claire House and Wirral Mind.

Professor Scott says, "This was my highlight of the month!

A brilliant celebration of the energy, teamwork, courage, altruism and skill that Liverpool student doctors are renowned for.

Hats off to Jacques and Michael for superb organisation and compering and coats off to the winners Max and Bethany! However, every dance deserved its applause and what amazing stars we also have in our band and singers. Truly spectacular."

Clinical Skills Lecturer and Strictly Judge Justin Shanahan

Justin says, “I felt really honoured to be asked to be a judge and was incredibly impressed by standard of dance, from all the contestants, along with the music, singing and backstage work, not to mention the amount raised for charity."

I think the student doctors of the LMSS should extremely proud of themselves.
