Over the winter break, I planted some bulbs in containers that I hope, perhaps with the help of some folk to lift them from my car, may soon be set in place in the Cedar House garden, ahead of spring.
I love our seasons and the sense of progress yet timeless continuance that they bring. It has been great to see the tips of buds and even to put up with a steadily earlier dawn chorus, heralding the promise of warmth and light.
Very soon, we will celebrate Chinese New Year in Liverpool. The ‘Year of the Tiger’ this year, and its symbolism of bravery, confidence and strength, seems all the more appropriate as we emerge, like the tree buds after the winter of the pandemic, ready to renew and progress those commitments we began before.
Commitments to being a community that champions respect, diversity and equality.
Commitments to maintaining those skills and talents that give us the joy we can share with others in our everyday, or may enable us to support charities.
Commitments to looking after ourselves and those around us.
And cmitments to being the best possible doctors and student doctors we can.
While things are still not ‘normal’ around us, I am delighted that ‘our normal’ includes the above and so much more. I am very much looking forward to sharing with you in the forthcoming vibrancy of the School season’s special occasions, and also to welcoming back our 2020 and 2021 cohorts for their graduation celebrations.
