Liverpool Research Society recently welcomed attendees from across the UK (and beyond!) to their 6th National Annual Research Conference, LivResCon6: Healthcare Today.
The event was sponsored by INSPIRE, an initiative aimed at promoting and facilitating student research, and gave students the opportunity to learn more about the field of research and showcase their own research work.
Hannah Woods, part of the Society’s committee, shares more about the event.
We had three excellent keynote speakers who each presented interesting and engaging talks.
Professor Gregory Lip, Director of the Liverpool Centre for Cardiovascular Science, spoke about his cardiovascular research.
Dr Rageshri Dhairyawan, a sexual health and HIV consultant at Barts Health NHS Trust and co-founder of SAHAR South Asian HIV Advisory Resource, showcased her work.
Professor Anastasios Kanatas, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, spoke about his areas of expertise which include Head and Neck Oncology, reconstruction and osteoradionecrosis.
Our afternoon workshops included “So you want to do the Academic Foundation Programme?”, “Mental Health in Frontline Healthcare Workers” and “How to survive F1”. We hosted poster presentations from 30 students and oral presentations from 9 fantastic oral speakers.
This year, all ticket proceeds went to the North Liverpool Food Bank, and we raised a total of £174 to donate to such an amazing charity.
We had excellent feedback from students who said the day was “well run”, “very enjoyable” and “incredibly useful”.
We are excited about using an online format for our conference for the first time and are looking forward to LivResCon7 in 2022 where we can hopefully meet in person once again.
A huge thanks to all our attendees and presenters, we hope you can join us next year!
