Cedar House is now open Monday to Friday, 8am to 9.30pm.
You told the School that you would like late night access to the student facilities in Cedar House - and we listened! The School of Medicine has arranged extended opening hours for the new student facilities on the ground floor.
MBChB students are now able to access the Cedar House until 9.30pm, Monday to Friday, during term time, just by swiping your student card. After 5pm you can now swipe to access:
- Student Hub,
- Student Kitchen (now supplied with board games!)
- Collaborative Study Area,
- Silent Study Area,
- Society room,
- Anatomy room,
- and of course, the ground floor toilets.
Please remember to have your student card with you at all times in Cedar House after hours, as doors will be operated solely via swipe access.
The extended opening hours have been arranged in order to provide additional study areas for MBChB students. Please note that students are not be able to access other areas of the building in the evening, unless they have staff permission.
You all took the time to sign the new extended hours Cedar House | Student Terms of Use (PDF), which made these changes possible, so thank you!
To further improve ease of access to all facilities, we will be introducing an online booking system in the new year for the Society Room (G.24). In the meantime, please contact mednews@liverpool.ac.uk with the details of your request and we will happily co-ordinate with you to book a time slot.
MBChB Office and Emergency Contacts
Please bear in mind that the extended hours for student areas in Cedar House do not apply to the MBChB Main Office (G.08), and the office opening hours will remain unchanged. A reminder of the office opening hours:
Monday, 8am - 4pm (early opening)
Tuesday, 10am - 4pm
Wednesday, 10am - 4pm
Thursday, 10am - 6pm (late night)
Friday, 10am- 4pm
Should you need to contact someone in an emergency from Cedar House during the evening, please see the list of Cedar House | Emergency Contacts (PDF) which are displayed throughout student areas on the notice boards. A phone is also available in the reception area, should anyone need to make an emergency call.
Board Games available on the Ground Floor
A selection of board games are now available in the student kitchen on the first floor.
Studies have shown that games help us to reduce stress, support mental balance and help with relaxation – and they are also just a good excuse to talk to someone new! We don’t recommend that you practice for the OSCEs on Operation – but if you are studying long hours, a mental health break for a quick round of Uno, Jenga or Dominoes might be a good idea.
We politely ask that you put the games back how you found them, so the next group of players can enjoy them as much as you did.
We hope that you enjoy using the facilities!
