The festive season can come coupled with stresses and strains, with additional unique stresses for those in caring professions, as well as those facing exams and assessments in the new year.
It is important to look after your wellbeing during the winter holidays, and to remember that help is available if you need it.

School of Medicine Wellbeing team
If you accessed support from our Wellbeing team before, you may be used to visiting their office on the ground floor of Cedar House. As campus renovations continue, please take note of the fact that the Wellbeing Office has now moved to the fifth floor - Cedar House, room 5.12.
The team continues to operate an open door policy from their new home, ensuring any medical students experiencing difficulties can access the appropriate support.
6 new wellbeing advisors have also now been appointed, to further offer one-to-one support for all MBChB students.
During the Christmas close-down
The University of Liverpool campus officially closes from Friday 21st December 2018, re-opening on Wednesday 2nd January 2019.
If you are in need of support over the holiday period the following contacts may be useful:
- For 24-hour help, please call The Samaritans who offer a 24-hour helpline (116 123)
- You can also find support via the Students Against Depression website.
- A list of other support networks you can access can be found on the University Counselling Service webpages.
Looking out for others
It is a busy time of year for many of us but if you have the capacity, and ability, Christmas can be a great time of year to help others.
Small acts of kindness towards other people, or larger ones like volunteering in your local community, can also help your own wellbeing, providing a sense of purpose, and it can make you feel happier and more satisfied with life.
