EDI Toolkit: Towards diverse and inclusive content delivery
This toolkit is intended to support all who design and deliver teaching in the School of Medicine in considering how equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) can be increasingly embedded throughout the course. The toolkit covers four themes with a set of questions and suggested actions for each area, designed to support reflection and development of what we teach and how we teach it.
Content
This section invites us to consider the content we deliver, the sources we use and the inclusion of areas relating to patient safety and health inequalities.
Teaching Resources
This section looks at representation of diversity in teaching materials such as lecture slides, case examples, role-play scenarios etc.
Dialogue
This section looks at opportunities to weave EDI-related themes and discussions into teaching settings across the curriculum.
Delivery
This section looks at the ways in which we deliver teaching and the need for supportive learning environments which feel safe and inclusive for both students and teachers.

Creating Safe Learning Environments
Fostering an inclusive and supported learning environment means establishing a setting for open discussion where diverse perspectives are welcome and where harm and distress for both students and teachers is avoided as much as possible.
