The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Liverpool invites applications for Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) studentships leading to a PhD and commencing study from the 22nd September 2025. This fully funded opportunity is open to all areas of mathematics and provides an excellent platform for research in a dynamic and supportive environment. Our department's research spans Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Stochastics, and Financial & Actuarial Mathematics. Learn more about our research areas here: Liverpool Mathematical Sciences Research. If you have a strong academic background and a passion for mathematical research, we encourage you to apply! We strongly encourage female applicants to apply!

Award Value:  The EPSRC DPT funded Studentship will cover full tuition fees of £4,786 pa. and pay a maintenance grant for 3.5 years, starting at the UKRI minimum of £20,780 pa. for academic year 2025-2026, subject to increase in future years. The Studentship also comes with a Research Training Support Grant to fund consumables, conference attendance, etc.

Award conditions: DTP students will spend their time working towards the objectives of the chosen PhD programmes (teaching assistant duties will be provided on a voluntary basis and paid separately).

Eligibility: EPSRC Studentships are available to any prospective student wishing to apply including both home and international students. While EPSRC funding will not cover international fees, a limited number of scholarships to meet the fee difference will be available to support outstanding international students.
