How to apply

When applying to any of these positions, please follow the general instructions by the University (how to apply).

Note that for applications in Mathematical Sciences, incl. Theoretical Physics, we do not expect a detailed research proposal. Instead, we would ask you to write a research statement where you summarise your previous research activities (e.g. final year project or any research placements you did). Please also talk about your research interests and why you want to pursue a PhD.

Additionally to specific projects, we usually also have positions that are not linked to any supervisor (such as the STFC and EPSRC funded positions). If you want to apply to any of these, we will attempt to match your interest to available supervisors. However, we would encourage you to already indicate one or two academics you would be interested in working with. If you have questions or need assistance with this, please contact Yannick Ulrich for the STFC funded positions.
