Applied Statistics and Data Science MSc
The Applied Statistics and Data Science MSc is ideal for graduates with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Maths) degree, who want to pursue a career in statistics and data science across a broad range of sectors.
Students will first learn the foundations of data science and statistical models, then go on to master contemporary machine learning methods and programming skills.
The MSc also allows students to tailor their learning through specialisation in one of three pathways: Global Health and Epidemiology, Machine Learning for Investment Science, or Statistics, and the summer research project provides the opportunity to collaborate with industry partners.
Graduates of this MSc will be well-suited to roles in industries including IT, healthcare, government agencies, telecommunications, finance, and sports analytics, where they are increasingly using statistics and big data for planning and decision-making.
Programme Director, Dr Kamila Zychaluk, highlights the programme’s importance:
“Studying Applied Statistics and Data Science will give you the ability to analyse and interpret data, making you a key player in today’s data-focused world. Data scientists, statisticians, and data analysts are in high demand and are offered rewarding salaries due to the critical role they play in organisations.”
