Hello, I’m Dr Dane Anderton, the Director of Studies for the Liverpool MBA, and I’m excited to welcome you to our community. It’s an honour to guide you as you embark on this transformative journey, and I look forward to meeting you in person on campus!
During your first week, we’ll kick things off with an immersive day designed to introduce you to the world of academia. You’ll gain valuable academic skills and have the opportunity to connect with our current MBA cohort through a social event we’re hosting.
On Thursday 30 January, here’s what you can expect during our orientation session:
- Programme Welcome and Overview
- How to Read an Academic Paper
- Critical Thinking
- Referencing for Beginners.
By the end of the day, you’ll have the essential skills you need to start your MBA with confidence.
Afterwards, we’ll gather for a social event where you can meet current MBA students, relax, and enjoy the vibrant city of Liverpool.
You’ll get a feel for the campus, explore the city, and make new friends—there’s so much to look forward to!
In addition to the welcome activities, I have a few personal tips to help you make the most of your time here at the University of Liverpool:
- Be proactive: The more effort you put in, the more rewarding your experience will be. Take full advantage of the resources and opportunities available to you—there’s so much to explore!
- Engage with the content: Your MBA is a dynamic course that connects with real-world business events. Don’t just study the material—think critically about what it means and how it applies to today’s business world. You’ll have access to resources like the Financial Times and The Economist, which will help you link your academic knowledge to the latest trends in business.
- Get involved: Connect with your classmates and faculty members. Building relationships both inside and outside the classroom will enhance your experience and help expand your network. Many of our alumni are still in touch with one another, and your connections here can last a lifetime.
We’re thrilled to have you join us and can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make throughout your MBA journey.
Welcome again, and see you soon!
