Siema Hashemi recently completed her PhD at the Center for Monetary and Financial Studies (CEMFI) in Madrid, Spain, where she focused on Banking Regulation and Supervision. Her dissertation explores the ex-ante effects of resolution policies on banks' investment decisions and examines the financial stability implications of bank consolidation. Her research was guided by Prof. Rafael Repullo. Siema holds an MSc in Finance and Economics from CEMFI and an MSc in Finance and Accounting from Goethe University Frankfurt. She has gained practical experience at the European Central Bank, working as a trainee in the Single Supervisory Mechanism, and has also worked as a credit analyst at Deutsche Leasing in Germany.
