About
Chi Wan Cheang is a Lecturer in Economics at the University of Liverpool Management School and a research affiliate in the Department of Geography and Planning and the Planning Research Institute at the University of Liverpool, where she previously held a postdoctoral position. Before joining Liverpool, Chi was a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Economics at the University of Southampton, funded by an ESRC postdoctoral fellowship for her project “Long Memory and Nonlinearity in Macroeconomic and Financial Time Series.” Recently, she has awarded the 2024/25 Policy Support Fund by Research England to support her work on housing policy development.
Chi’s research centres on time series analysis and applied econometrics, with applications across financial management, housing economics, and planning policies. She has conducted impactful policy work, including developing an infrastructure levy model for the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and conducting housing need assessments for English local authorities. Across her projects, Chi’s goal is to make a positive impact on economic and urban planning practices.
