Before joining the University of Liverpool Management School as a Lecturer in Marketing (Research and Teaching), Amir studied for a PhD in Business and Management at Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS). He was awarded the AMBS Doctoral Scholarship (2018-2021). Amir is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He holds an MSc in Environmental and Public Health from the University of Salford, where he was awarded the Vice Chancellor's Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship (2016-17) and the University of Salford's Best performance on a Postgraduate Environmental Programme Prize (2017).

Amir's primary research stream focuses on Transformative Service Research (TSR) and the intersection of service design, consumer vulnerability and well-being. For his research, he was awarded the AMS-Sheth Foundation Doctoral Competition for Conceptual Artiles Award (2019) and Best Developmental Paper Award from the Competitive Advantage in the Digital Economy (CADE - 2021). His research projects have been awarded EPSRC grants in 2020 & 2021. His first paper was published in 2021 in the Annals of Tourism Research, focusing on proactivity and well-being in times of crisis.
