Second Operations and Supply Chain Management PhD Summer School successfully held in Liverpool
The 2nd PhD Summer School on Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSCM), co-organised by the OSCM group and the Centre for Supply Chain Research in the University of Liverpool Management School (ULMS), was successfully held on 17-21 June 2024 in Liverpool.
This year’s Summer School was attended by 34 PhD students from 28 different universities across 10 countries such as Belgium, Brazil, China, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, UK, and USA. In fact, about half of the attendees were from overseas universities, with some even spending over 10 hours traveling to Liverpool to attend the Summer School.
During the five-day Summer School, seven professors from the OSCM group, including Professors Tolga Bektas, Zlatko Bodrožić, Jason Choi, Hugo Lam, Andy Lyons, Jo Meehan, and Dongping Song, as well as Professor Tinglong Dai from Johns Hopkins University delivered sessions covering different research topics and methodologies related to OSCM. They also served as mentors for PhD students attending the Summer School, arranging meetings with assigned mentees and providing advice on their research. The Summer School ended with a student research presentation competition, with 10 students winning different research awards.
Commenting on this year’s PhD Summer School, Professor Hugo Lam, Director of Research for the OSCM group, mentioned: “Our second PhD Summer School was another big success! I am grateful for the great contributions provided by our professorial colleagues, student helpers, and professional services staff in the ULMS Doctoral and Research Team and Events Team who made this year’s Summer School run so smoothly and successfully!"
