GOLF funded sustainable food security project reaches final stage
The final workshop of the EC H2020 MSCA Global and Local Agri-Food Supply Chains Towards Sustainable Food Security (GOLF) funded project, took place last week in our city.
Led by Dr Dong Li, Professor Andy Lyons, Professor Martin Mortimer and Dr Iain Young, the project started in 2018 with €1m (£873k) in funding and 12 partners in EU and Asia, and has now reached its closing stage.
The EC H2020 MSCA project targets challenges in sustainable agri-food supply chains and innovations with bioeconomy and circular economy, from both managerial and technological perspectives.
"We have developed innovative methods for assessing, designing and planning sustainable food supply chains in the global trading environment, and informed collaborative strategies for agri-food supply chains with the circular economy approaches", said project leader, Dr Dong Li.
"Businesses involved in the established research network have been benefited from enhanced understanding and facilitated transformation to sustainable agri-food systems."
The workshop, co-hosted by the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University, is the last of a series of collaborative initiatives by 12 partners in EU and Asia, which have resulted in:
- Over 50 journal publications, including leading journals, such as Management Science, European Journal of Operations Research, Transport Research Part B, Food Policy, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Production Research, Transport Research Part E, Transport Research Part D, Industrial marketing management, etc.
- Research outcomes disseminated in 15 project workshops and a large number of international conferences.
A wide research network has been established through the project collaboration to sustain continuous research after the project closes, including ongoing (Research Excellence Framework (REF) impact case projects, funding proposals, joint paper development.
