PhD Summer School on Operations and Supply Chain Management successfully held in Liverpool
The 1st PhD Summer School on Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSCM), co-organised by the Department of OSCM and the Centre for Supply Chain Research in the University of Liverpool Management School (ULMS), was successfully held on 19-22 June 2023 in Liverpool.
This PhD Summer School was attended by thirty students from 22 different universities around the world, including seven students from the University of Liverpool, twelve students from other UK universities (e.g., Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Coventry, Cranfield, Manchester, Nottingham, Sheffield, Southampton, and Warwick), and eleven students from universities in other countries such as China, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, and Italy.
During the four-day PhD Summer School, seven professors from the OSCM department, including Professors Tolga Bektas, Jason Choi, Paul Cousins, Hugo Lam, Andy Lyons, Jo Meehan, and Dongping Song, delivered seven sessions covering different research topics and methodologies related to OSCM.
The PhD Summer School ended with a student research presentation competition, with six students winning different research awards.
Commenting on this year’s PhD Summer School, Professor Hugo Lam, Director of Research of the OSCM department, mentioned: “This year’s PhD Summer School was a big success.
"It provided an excellent platform for PhD students from different universities to gather in Liverpool to learn different OSCM research topics and methodologies, seek advice from our professorial colleagues in the OSCM department, and interact and discuss with other PhD students attending the Summer School.
"I am very impressed by their 100% attendance across different sessions in the Summer School. I am also grateful for the great contributions provided by our professorial colleagues, student helpers, and professional services staff in the ULMS Doctoral and Research Team and Events Team who made the Summer School run so smoothly and successfully!”
