MBA students step into the future of corporate decision-making through immersive VR

Developed by colleagues from INSEAD XR and AVRIS Technologies and led by Professor Terry McNulty from the Management School, a cutting-edge simulation is a key component of the Corporate Governance and Sustainability module.
Equipped with VR headsets, MBA students were immersed in the events and decision-making of two company boards as they proceeded through an acquisition and merger. As consultants, our MBAs enjoyed an interactive, participative learning process during which they developed understanding and skills relevant to practical challenges of corporate governance, sustainability, ESG and strategic decision-making across publicly listed and privately owned companies.
Professor Terry McNulty, module leader and an expert in Management and Corporate Governance, highlighted its value: “This immersive experience equips students with the knowledge and skills for their future roles as managers, governors, and decision-makers. Beyond understanding strategy, ownership, and board effectiveness, they gain first hand insight into the responsibility and accountability that come with board-level leadership.”
The session showcased our commitment to innovative learning, with immediate benefits for students and promising potential for broader applications. Dr Dane Anderton, Director of MBA programmes added “This collaboration underscores the school’s research expertise within our MBA programmes and the ability to create impactful learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom”.
Reflecting on the session, MBA student Shadab Ahmed said “It's amazing how this cutting-edge technology integrated so seamlessly with our curriculum, allowing us to apply everything we've learned in a dynamic, interactive environment”
