Undergraduate and postgraduate students embarked on an insightful field trip to London, gaining first-hand exposure to industry-leading companies and real-world marketing applications. This trip was attended by students studying BA Marketing, BA Business Management and MSc Marketing programmes, and led by Dr Cathy McGouran, Director of Studies, BA Marketing.
Highlights included a visit to Iris Worldwide, a globally renowned integrated marketing agency. Students spent the day interacting with professionals across a broad range of marketing roles, learning about participation branding and digital strategy. The team at also Iris expressed enthusiasm in hiring University of Liverpool graduates.
Students reflected that the visit was “extremely well-organised” and that spending a whole day at a top agency helped them deepen their understanding of how to execute marketing strategies for big brands.
The group also visited the Mastercard Experience Centre, where they explored the intersection of digital marketing and payment technology. The session highlighted how evolving consumer behaviour is shaping digital transactions, providing students with in-depth understanding of the role of marketing in financial services.
The final part of the trip involved a West End Retail Design Tour, to see first-hand how cutting-edge design and retail strategies are implemented in real-world settings.
Dr Treasa Kearney, Director of Education for Marketing, highlighted, “This was an incredible experience, highlighted by the engaging sessions with IRIS industry experts. Students gained valuable insights into marketing and potential career opportunities. The Mastercard sessions demonstrated marketing's broad impact, while the retail experience allowed students to apply their learning in real-world scenarios.”
