MBA students visit Madrid

Our Liverpool MBA and Football Industries MBA cohort have just returned from a week in Madrid for their annual study trip.
Building on our MBA curriculum, the trip helps to further enhance leadership and employability skills as well as consolidate our student's first semester’s learning through the following:
- Understanding the economic, political and demographic characteristics of the city and country
- Challenging assumptions with first-hand, real-world experiences within a new economic and social context
- Enhancing the understanding of doing business in different countries and cultures
- Connecting with the business and alumni network
- Preparing for the second semester, building on core modules and specialising in areas such as business analytics, international business plus entrepreneurship and innovation.
The week began with meeting Invest in Madrid, an organisation looking to attract investment through business support, followed by a session with Avinash Sukhwani, the founder of fintech start-up Payflow.
A visit to La Liga, Spain’s first-division football league followed, offering unique insights into branding and how data can help reach millions of fans worldwide.
During the week, students also took part in a real-world business challenge with Alkeymia, a company providing clean energy solutions where they explored industry challenges and insightful conclusions.
A rewarding and fascinating week concluded with a visit to winery, Bodega El Regajal and a farewell dinner.
The experience of the week was best summed up by Liverpool MBA student, Pranjal Srivastava:
“From understanding innovation and sustainability to embracing Madrid's vibrant culture, every moment was a step towards becoming a more empathetic, flexible, and adaptable leader.”
