Personal Branding Talk inspires International Business students
Early in December, BA International Business students at the University of Liverpool Management School had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into personal branding, with a special focus on leveraging LinkedIn and social media.
Two dynamic speakers, Katie Bowater and Danielle Flynn, shared their knowledge and experiences with the students in a highly engaging session that left attendees motivated and ready to build their own authentic personal brands.
The event aimed to equip students with the tools and mindset needed to differentiate themselves in a competitive global market.
Katie Bowater, Managing Director of Young Entrepreneurs Club and a BA Business Management Class of 2023 graduate, opened the session by discussing the power of personal branding in creating opportunities and connections.
She explained, "We explored the power of building a personal brand and how it can open doors, create connections, and help you stand out. Even if your career hasn’t started yet. It was so lovely chatting to the students and answering their questions afterwards on how they can get started.”
Danielle Flynn, Co-Founder of Axelegro and Founder of Danielle’s Travel Blog followed with her own perspective on the importance of embracing authenticity in personal branding: “People are often too scared to post online or worry a lot about the fear of failure or rejection, or think they have nothing to share. But I believe, it's so important to document your journey and tell the world what you're up to. Thank you so much to the team for inviting me down.”
The speakers also participated in an engaging 'In Conversation With' Q&A session, where students had the chance to ask specific questions about building a personal brand and gaining traction on platforms like LinkedIn.
International Business student Gabriel Heffy reflected on the event saying, "Thank you to Katie Bowater and Danielle Flynn for their talk. I found your stories very inspiring. I hope I can develop my personal brand and someday meet again in the business world.”
Dr Etieno Enang, Director of Studies BA International Business at the University of Liverpool, praised the speakers for their transparency and willingness to share their personal journeys: “The speakers’ insights on personal branding and willingness to reflect on their own journeys provided great value to the students. Encouraging them to embrace authenticity and share their experiences is such an important message, especially in today’s interconnected world.”
This event was a great opportunity for students to gain practical advice on building an impactful personal brand, showcasing their skills and preparing for future career opportunities.
