On Tuesday 26 November, the Management School invited Karen Williams, Founder and Client Director at Tribe, to be a guest speaker for MSc Advanced Marketing students as part of their Researching Markets and Consumers module.

Karen has been visiting the Management School for over 8 years and continues to inspire students with her decades of experience in strategic marketing, insight and communications across government, public and private sectors.

Her most recent talk focused on marketing insight, how to generate insights and some of the challenges she faces in managing data.

Students were particularly interested in hearing the way Karen uses data from digital platforms and how it can be used in combination to inform strategic marketing decisions.

Students also expressed how they enjoyed the session because it highlighted some real-world examples of insight generation in action.

They particularly appreciated the discussion of examples where brands had missed the mark due to a lack of good insight.

Commenting on the success of the session, Professor Liz Parsons said: “Karen is always an engaging speaker who brings a wealth of knowledge and realistic examples to her talks and this year was no exception.”
