For the first time, two University of Liverpool Management School teams have registered to take part in the highly popular Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge.

The two teams, all MSc Finance students, consist of William Smith (Team Captain), Alfia Ahmed, Riya Saxena and Aqsa Shai alongside their School rivals Neel Shah (Team Captain), Krishang Agarwal and Rishi Sharma.

The annual challenge attracts over 8400 students across 38 countries and is designed to help students build marketable skills and the knowledge needed to compete for finance jobs.

Through this competition, teams will compete against other top students around the world to experience first-hand what real-world investing looks and feels like. The Trading Competition is the only university investment competition to take place entirely within the Bloomberg Terminal.

Students will invest $1 million virtual US dollars, using the Bloomberg Terminal to define market assumptions, develop a return-generating strategy, and execute notional trades within a closed network, while receiving support from faculty advisors and training from Bloomberg employees.

Dr Davide Avino (MSc Finance Director of Studies and Faculty Advisor for one of the teams) said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to develop an investment strategy using real-world financial tools that allow them to put financial theories into practice, giving them hands-on experience required to work in the finance industry. We wish them all the very best.”

The winning team will be announced on Friday 22 November.
