From the classroom to the countryside

MiM students outside the Management School

Students from the School’s Master in Management (MiM) course recently took time out of the classroom for a two-day study trip to Wales, part of the enhanced programme of activities offered to MiM students.

The trip began with a visit to FACT Liverpool, the UK's leading organisation for the support and exhibition of art, film, and new media. Students learned how FACT embraces new technology and explores digital culture and the importance of the arts in the Liverpool city region.

The group then travelled to Gregynog Hall in Wales, for a networking dinner with three Liverpool alumni: Jayanthi Selvam, Luke Coles, and Grzegorz Olechnowicz who shared their career advice from their initial job search, career development techniques and insights into the consulting industry.

On the second day, students participated in a business simulation exercise and a team-building activity that provided them with hands-on experience working in a team to achieve a set of goals, and gained valuable insights on how effective teams work and the skills required to lead and work in these teams.

The day concluded with a walk through the rolling hills in the beautiful Gregynog Hall estate before heading back to Liverpool in high spirits.

Dr Lily (Ming) Li, Director of Studies for the Master in Management course, who organised the study trip said: “Our study trip is a great opportunity for MiM students to spend time together away from campus, explore their potential and put their learning into action.

“Huge thanks also to the three alumni who joined us on this trip, your advice and career insights were invaluable to our students as they reach the end of their master’s degree.”
