ULMS hosts Business Breakfast: "Important Conversations- Enhancing Patient and Family Experiences in Hospices”
The University of Liverpool Management School held its latest Business Breakfast “Important Conversations- Enhancing Patient and Family Experiences in Hospices” on Thursday 13 June 2024.
The session focused on the delivery of hospice care and how to implement the practical elements of Professors of Marketing Philippa Hunter-Jones and Lynn Sudbury-Riley's research-highlighting the importance of prioritising a 'person centred' approach across the patient journey.
Helen Brown, CEO of Wirral St John’s Hospice shared her experience of applying the research findings and the impact and outcomes at Wirral Hospice. There was ample discussion around patient and family experiences connected to the delivery of hospice care, and recommendations were shared on ways to facilitate improvements the service offered within hospice settings as well as ways to apply the ‘Trajectory Touchpoint Technique’.
The Q&A session at the end was very productive, allowing room for some interesting discussion relating to how to embed the methods discussed in local hospices as well as how to utilise the framework across the care sector.
Helen Brown, CEO of Wirral Hospice St John’s commented “The session allowed us to reflect on our work together implementing the ‘Trajectory Touchpoint Technique’ and its real-world impact at our hospice. Sharing that learning and being able to answer questions from other hospice’s about how they can adopt the technique was valuable. It was great to connect in person with peers across the sector.”
