Experts discuss opportunities and challenges of AI integration for businesses in LAMBDA Roundtable
Through its recently concluded roundtable, the Management School’s Liverpool Advanced Methods for Big Data Analytics (LAMBDA) Research Cluster brought together industry experts and academic professionals in a dynamic, insight-driven debate and discussion on “AI: Benefits and Challenges for Business”.
The half-day event, held on Friday 7 June, facilitated an academic reflection and informed debate on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance operations and systems in industries, such as transport and logistics, defence, agriculture and insurance.
The roundtable provided an engaging open forum for the participants, discussing the business advantages and possible threats and constraints of integrating AI-powered technologies into certain industries and aspects of business operations.
It also served as an invaluable platform for the delegates to ask timely and relevant questions, connect with peers in the AI field, and build and nurture research collaborations with scholars from other institutions.
“The discussions highlighted both the benefits and the potential risks and limitations of AI adoption by businesses,” said Professor Abderrahim Taamouti, Director of the LAMBDA Research Cluster.
“The numerous questions and interactions led to stimulating debates on the implementation of artificial intelligence systems within various sectors, including insurance, online retail operations, and blockchain.”
Leading AI professionals from different backgrounds were invited to speak during the roundtable to share their unique experiences and expertise, including Pauline Norstrom, Founder and CEO of Anekanta Consulting and Anekanta AI, Radhika Jakkula, Big Data & Analytics Prototyping Architect at Amazon and Edgar Everardo Garcia Aguilar, Data Scientist at AXA.
"The recent roundtable was a fantastic event. We had excellent talks by our speakers, which drew a large and engaged audience,” Professor Abderrahim added.
“I extend my gratitude to all speakers and attendees for their insightful contributions and participation, making this event a great success.”
