British Conference of Undergraduate Research 2024 Welcome Speech

BSc Economics student Wei Pin from the University of Liverpool Management School (ULMS) presented his individual research paper at the British Conference of Undergraduate Research (BCUR) 2024, gaining invaluable experience and insights into the UK’s largest undergraduate research gathering. The two-day conference was held on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 April at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Attracting research across different subject groups and disciplines, BCUR welcomed over 350 undergraduate-level participants, as well as master’s students and international delegates. The event provided a golden opportunity for research presentations, academic discussions, and professional networking.

On day two of the conference, Wei delivered a 15-minute oral presentation of his original research “Gender Differences in Child Labor and Education: Evidence from India" before an academic panel and fellow participants, answering lots of questions at the end.

Wei considers taking part in the conference an excellent extracurricular activity:

"BCUR is a great event for undergraduate students with motivation or interest in research. You can not only share and present your research idea but also network with other students with similar interests and goals across the UK and even from international institutions.”

“I really enjoyed and benefited a lot from this experience. Particularly, I would like to express my gratitude to Dr Mayuri Chaturvedi and Dr Yigit Oezcelik. Their support was invaluable in making this possible. "

Students at the University of Liverpool are offered a great range of intellectual and life-changing opportunities to maximise their undergraduate studies.
