Accounting and Finance Presentation Event Success

Last week, the Accounting and Finance group at the University of Liverpool Management School held their annual poster presentation event at the Liverpool Guild of Students. Led by Deputy Director of Studies for BA Accounting and Finance, Adam Deller and attended by final year undergraduate students from the Corporate Reporting and Analysis module, alumni and academic colleagues.

The poster presentation event marked the end of a semester long project, in which students were tasked with analysing a company of their choice in a comprehensive 5000-word report and coming up with an investment decision based on their research. During the presentation, students pitched their decisions to lecturers and alumni from the Management School, summarising companies’ financial performances, positions, and cash flows.

Projects of this nature give students crucial opportunity to apply theory learnt in the classroom to the real world, with students analysing the financial intricacies of successful global companies such as Netflix, Ferrari, Nike and more.

Final year Accounting and Finance student Said Alobaidani commented ‘the session transcended beyond a typical presentation. It transformed into a valuable interactive experience.’

Nazia Ahmed, Finance Operations Analyst at RSA and Accounting and Finance Class of 2021 graduate said “It was great to be back at the University of Liverpool as an alumna. From being a student myself, to now quizzing current students on their corporate reporting presentations, was a nostalgic experience! Thank you, Adam and Helen, for inviting us back.”

Adam Deller reflected on the growing success of this project ‘The on-campus poster presentation is becoming a flagship event for our programme. It's great to see students able to confidently talk about a project they have spent months on, and the professionals are always impressed with the depth of knowledge shown. We also get the joy of welcoming back many of our recent alumni and continuing to keep those strong relationships.’

Thank you to all the students, alumni and staff that participated in the event and shared their insights.
