ULMS graduate wins Gender & Equality Champion Award

Selina Suri, a 2017 Business Economics graduate, recently won the Gender & Equality Champion Award at the University of Liverpool Careers and Employability’s Equality Plus event, hosted in the Victoria Gallery and Museum.

The Equality+ Awards highlighted the incredible contributions of students and alumni from across the university in fostering equity, diversity, and inclusivity. Each award represented a unique facet of breaking down barriers and empowering students and graduates to thrive now and into their early careers. From rising stars to disability champions, the categories embodied the diverse and inspiring efforts that shape our inclusive community.

Selina said "I am so elated to have won an award that means so much to myself and others, especially in the construction industry. It’s so rewarding to help students by giving an insight of my career and experience of gender equality in the workplace, I certainly do not do it for recognition, but I must admit, it does feel nice to win something that I’m so passionate about."

The judges’ comments said how “Selina’s dedication to advocating for gender equality within the male-dominated Construction Engineering industry is remarkable. As an active alumni volunteer, she shares her experiences and insights with students and graduates through blogs and panel discussions, demonstrating a commitment to empowering women in their early careers. Her role as a spokesperson makes her an inspirational figure."

Other nominees from the Management School included Akshay Prabhale (current MSc Marketing student) and Noura Qusairy (2020 Project Management postgraduate) for the Exceptional Entrepreneur Award.

A huge congratulations to Selina, Akshay and Noura from all of the Management School.
