Professor Ian Burn appointed Associate Editor for Industrial Relations
We would like to congratulate Professor Ian Burn for his recent appointment as Associate Editor for Industrial Relations, an internationally-ranked journal at the forefront of research in employment relationships.
Rated 4 stars by the Association of Business Schools, Industrial Relations boasts the “high quality” distinction which recognises its efforts in publishing the most original and best-executed scholarly research.
In his new role, Ian will be reviewing and managing research submissions and academic articles that drive a deeper understanding of modern industrial relations and labour markets, as well as the organisation and future of work.
With an extensive research background in economics of discrimination, Ian’s brings expertise in quantifying the level of discrimination faced by marginalised workers through experimental methods, machine learning and advanced econometrics.
Through his work, he investigates the causes and consequences of discrimination in the economy, helping illustrate the mechanisms through which diversity and equality initiatives alleviate discrimination.
Specifically, Ian’s research examines discrimination against women, older workers and the LGBT community, and more recently his focus has shifted towards developing a better understanding of the disability employment gap.
At the prestigious journal, Ian joins a diverse team of Associate Editors, each with significant contributions to the field, including world-leading researchers from the University of London, the University of Sydney (Australia), McGill University, Texas A&M University and the University of California.
