Undergraduate students attend mock Assessment Centre at Anfield Stadium
On Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 March, 534 undergraduate students attended an Assessment Centre at Liverpool FC’s Anfield Stadium as part of modules ULMS170 and ECON170.
ULMS170 (Introduction to the Graduate Recruitment Process) is a compulsory module for Business Management students on both the 3- and 4-year (Year in Industry) programme. Students studying Marketing, Accounting and Finance and International Business must also take ULMS170 if they are on the 4-year programme, with it appearing as an optional module for those on the 3- year.
ECON170 (Professional Skills and Employment Preparation) is compulsory for Economics and Business Economics students on both the 3- and 4-year programmes.
Both of these modules introduce students to the graduate recruitment process, by providing them with the skills required to secure a work placement or summer internship. Running alongside Career Consultants from Careers and Employability and the Management School’s external partner, Gradcore, students have the opportunity to acquire, develop and apply these skills through activities focusing on:
- Career planning and company research
- CV’s, cover letters and application forms
- Online testing
- Assessment centres
- Interviews.
Commenting on the success of both days Director of Employability and Placements, Chris Barlow, said: “It was so pleasing to see so many first-year students engage in the individual presentation and group exercise, and receive such positive feedback from the assessors.
"The feedback received will allow the students to understand where they need to improve as they begin to look to secure placements/internships next year.”
BA Marketing student attendee, Sonny Cosgrove, said “Overall, I enjoyed it. It was a nice experience, something new. I do feel a lot more prepared for assessment centres now. Certainly, nothing to stress over.”
