Success of Help To Grow alumni event
The Management School was delighted to host its third Help to Grow Management Alumni Network event on Wednesday 29 March.
Dr David Cockayne, Senior Lecturer in Marketing, delivered an engaging workshop entitled “Social Media Marketing for SMEs” which focused on how social media has evolved over the past 15 years and what businesses need to do/change in order to engage with customers more effectively and attract a wider audience (Gen Z in particular). The group looked at the three different “generations” of social media, tools available for SMEs, trends driven by Gen Z and also the importance of content timing, which led to some really interesting discussions.
This is just one of a series of Help to Grow Alumni Network events that take place over the course of the academic year and the aim is to continue supporting SME leaders in reaching their long-term productivity, resilience, growth and innovation goals beyond completion of the Help to Grow Management programme. The alumni network will also help support participants in implementing their Growth Action Plans, ongoing learning and business development opportunities.
Andrew Iveson, (Director, Amivet Exports) said “It was a very interesting and informative session, giving some top tips on social media usage, which platforms to use, timings of content submission, trends in this area and some very useful advice on how to move forwards.”
Accredited by the Small Business Charter, the 12-week practical programme for SME leaders covers all aspects of management, including finance and strategies for growth and innovation. Participants benefit from 1-1 mentorship and finish the course with a tailored business growth plan, as well as access to an extensive alumni programme and network.
