Students carry out market research project for CNC Robotics
At the Management School we’re always eager to work with industry partners, especially when there’s an opportunity to connect them with our students. Such an opportunity came from Philippa Glover, Managing Director at locally-based CNC Robotics, a robotic integration company providing automated solutions to improve manufacturing and operational efficiency.
CNC Robotics are Corporate Partners of the Management School and Philippa contacted the Business Development team regarding a market research project that might provide our students with some experience.
Philippa said, “It had always been my intention to take some time out to conduct some market research but there was always something else happening in the business that drew my attention elsewhere. I reached out to the Management School to see if this was something they might be able to help with and was delighted when it was suggested that this could be a really great project for some of their marketing students to work on.”
Philippa provided a full brief, which was then circulated to Marketing students. “The Business Development team sent me the CV’s of several interested students and in the end I selected one undergrad and one postgrad to chat with online to explain more about the project, my requirements and to get to know them. I was really impressed with both and happy for them to work together so invited them on-site to learn more about the company and get them started on the project.”
Ove the next few weeks the students kept in touch with Philippa on their progress and to check any queries they had. Finally, they submitted their findings in their report.
Philippa said, “The students worked well together and brought different strengths and knowledge to the project. The report they delivered was well-written, comprehensive and with insightful information, which we have since used in our strategic planning meetings. The whole process was easy, solved a resourcing challenge for us and also gave those students some invaluable real-world work experience, which they will be able to add to their CV’s. We’re now thinking about the next student project…!”
