Sky visit to the Management School ahead of Kick It Out Scholarship deadline
At the start of February Jack Eatherley, Project Lead on Participation Strategy at Sky, visited The University of Liverpool to discuss the ‘Kick It Out Scholarship’ programme which offers full scholarships to four Football Industries MBA students from under-represented ethnic groups in 2022/23.
Jack’s visit was centred around the newly formed partnership between Sky, Kick It Out and the Management School where he met with Dr Dane Anderton, Director of ULMS MBA Programmes and Dr Babatunde Buraimo, Senior Lecturer in Sports Management and Economics and Director of Studies of Football Industries MBA, to discuss how Sky’s investment aims to improve diverse representation at senior level and increase off-field representation within the football industry.
Jack was also invited to visit the Brett Building which is a dedicated space for University of Liverpool MBA students. Whilst here, Jack spoke to current Football Industries MBA students about their experiences with the programme, which modules they enjoyed and the careers that they are aiming for once they graduate. Tutor Kieran Maguire, Football and Finance Module Leader, was also on hand to give Jack an overview of course content that candidates undertake on the FIMBA programme and success stories of past alumni.
Not only will the scholarship cover the full cost of tuition fees (£25,000) for the one-year course starting in September 2022, but successful candidates will also be paired with prominent mentors in the football industry and Sky’s Diversity Advisory Council relevant to their focus of study. Upon completion of the course, Sky Sports and Kick it Out will also use their extensive network in the football industries to help to accelerate candidate careers.
Jack Eatherley said:
“It was such a pleasure to visit the University of Liverpool Management School and meet the inspiring students in this great facility. All of us at Sky can’t wait to welcome students on to the MBA scholarship starting this September.
“We’re really committed with Kick it Out to help diversify the football industry at leadership level and this scholarship programme is going to provide a perfect platform for students to succeed.”
