Students take part in Collaborative Online International Learning project
Students on the Management School’s BA Business Management and BA Marketing programmes have been working on a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) project with The University of Georgia.
The initiative brings together students from both universities who are working in groups to solve a business-related problem. Topics include Human Resource Management, Marketing, Supply Chain and Economics.
Groups are required to prepare a short proposal and report on their solutions. The top five will present their ideas to a panel consisting of academics and alumni from both The Management School and The University of Georgia.
Dr Ahmed Al-Abdin (BA Marketing Director of Studies), Dr Jason MacVaugh (BA Business Management Director of Studies), Helen Carlin (International Development Officer) and John Green (ULMS Study Abroad Officer) have been working on the project, along with colleagues from the University of Georgia. Dr Al-Abdin commented “As well as providing students with a new and innovative way to engage internationally during the pandemic, the project enhances key employability skills including team working, communication, business acumen and cultural awareness.”
“It also provides an opportunity for students to engage with alumni and acts as a basis for further collaboration in the future. I look forward to seeing the final presentations.”
