The University of Liverpool’s Management School invites expressions of interest for the 2017/18 British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme. These awards offer opportunities for outstanding early career researchers to strengthen their experience of research and teaching in a university environment.

The Management School’s 160 international experts produce world-leading academic contributions and make a positive impact on a wide range of organisations and institutions. Our investment in a first-class research environment and a flourishing cohort of PhD researchers, coupled with our refreshingly interdisciplinary focus put the Management School at the forefront of academic research, making a difference to our many local, national and international partners.

In November 2012 the School achieved AACSB Accreditation and is currently going through the reaccreditation process. Only five per cent of business schools worldwide have been awarded the accreditation. AACSB Accreditation Standards require a high quality teaching environment, a commitment to continuous improvement, and curricula responsive to the needs of businesses. This achievement means that not only has the School met specific standards of excellence, but has also made a commitment to on-going improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver high quality education to its students.

The work of the School covers teaching and research in a wide range of subjects that include:

  • History and Institutions
  • Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management
  • Leadership, People and Management
  • Operations and Supply Chain Management
  • Marketing and Experiential Consumption
  • Corporate Finance, Financial Markets and Risk
  • Societal and Economic Development
  • International Business
  • Econometrics (Theory and Applied), Micro and Macro Economic Theory

We also play an active role working with companies, public and third sector organisations and policymakers, providing strong links with practice.

Those interested in applying for a Fellowship at the University of Liverpool are invited to submit expressions of interest to Professor Andrew Lyons (a.c.lyons@liverpool.ac.uk), Departmental Research Lead by 5pm on Monday 4th September 2017, consisting of the following:

  • CV
  • an outline (2 pages max.) of the research proposal, including intended publication outputs
  • 100-word abstract
  • Identification of potential mentor

Applicants to be supported by the School will be informed by 8th September. It is anticipated that shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a workshop providing advice on the scheme as well as providing an opportunity to meet their chosen mentor in the week commencing 18th September. Fully developed application outlines will need to be provided by noon on the 27th September.
