Management Schools collaborates with PRME to host Global Goals Local Business Roadshow
Working alongside the UN PRME Network UK, The University of Liverpool Management School recently hosted the Making Global Goals Local Business Roadshow on the 21st June.
The Global Goals, adopted by the UK and other 192 Member States of the United Nations, provide a path to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and protect our planet.
The event attracted an audience of researchers, academics, local industry representatives and students who had an opportunity to learn more about PRME and share in knowledge exchange. Guests were welcomed to the programme by Steve Kenzie, Executive Director at UNGC Network UK and Liz Parsons, Professor of Marketing at University of Liverpool Management School.
The day involved a number engaging talks and panel sessions delivered by a range of high profile guest speakers who discussed the opportunities for businesses to work with PRME in the future. The panel included Angela Gaskell, Head of Sourcing at N Brown Group, Matt Coppin, Executive at Castlefield Advisory Partners, Mike Brogan, Chief executive at Procure Plus and James Sloan CEO at Imagine If Trust. The varied panel represented a range of sectors including charities, social housing procurement consortia and socially responsible investment firms based in the North West. Dr Alan Southern Co-Director of the Heseltine Institute for Public Policy and Practice, and lead on the Social Economy theme, University of Liverpool Management School was also a panel member.
Professor Liz Parson commented: "While the Global Goals are a universal call to action, the roadshow really brought out their importance in the local context and highlighted how Liverpool as a city, and the Management School in particular, can respond to this call".
PRME, Principles for Responsible Management Education, is a global call to the world of higher education to inspire and campaign for responsible management education, research and thought leadership. The Management School works closely to implement PRME principles and it dedicated to incorporate these principles into its ethos and mission.
