MSc students visit one of the UK's largest port operators
A number of students studying MSc Operations and Supply Chain Management had the opportunity to visit Peel Ports Liverpool as part of their final projects.
A select number of students have chosen to complete their final projects working to solve business issues set by Peel Ports. As part of their studies, students can undertake a project over the duration of the summer which relate to a specific industrial or research related issue, working alongside businesses to combine aspects of theory with practical application in operations and supply chain management.
As part of the visit, which took place on the 16th June, students were given a tour of the facilities and had the opportunity to meet with members of the Port's Management Team including Head of Commercial Strategy, Stephen Carr. They were accompanied on the visit by Dr Dong Li, Reader in Operations and Supply Chain Management at the Management School.
The Management School welcomed Stephen onto campus last month to deliver a seminar on Challenges, Strategies and Development of Maritime Ports. Peel Ports offer a cutting edge network of state-of-the-art facilities that will maximise supply chain efficiency while reducing costs. Working with clients, Peel Ports prioritise investment for the regions, commodity markets and facilities in areas that show the greatest potential for growth and integrate shipping to benefit the ports.
