MBA cohort visit Everton and MK Dons
The Football Industries MBA cohort recently visited Goodison Park, home to Premier League team Everton F.C.
The students were welcomed by the CEO, Robert Elstone, who gave an insightful presentation on the club and its operations. Additional presentations were given by the Director of Marketing and Communications, Facilities Manager and Head of Security and Safety, providing students with the opportunity to gain practical insights on the theoretical elements of Sports Operations.
The visit to Everton F.C. was also topped off with a stadium visit, where students learnt about the history of the club.
MBA candidate and student representative, Shah-Zeib Ahmed said: “Although the weather was not as welcoming as the hosts, I am certain to say that all students found the visit very insightful and we all enjoyed visiting the People’s Club”.
The cohort also recently visited Milton Keynes Dons F.C. as part of the Sports Operations Management module. The group was welcomed by Andrew Cullen, the club’s Executive Director, who delivered a presentation about the club, including its history, finances and perspectives.
The visit also included a stadium tour where students were shown the multi-use stadium area which includes a hotel, an events arena which can host up to 5,000 people and the 30,500 capacity stadium. The cohort also had the opportunity to visit the Stadium Control Room where the Stadium Safety and Security Manager, Andy Standen, delivered a session on his work at the club. The day concluded with a Q&A session with the First Team Manager/Coach, Robbie Neilson.
MBA student, Paulo Benaim said: “The trip was very good and having the chance to spend the whole day with the Executive Director of the club was priceless. Also the whole project of the Stadium is impressive and is truly a sustainable multi-use space. The whole experience showed us how a small club can be well managed and also have facilities that helps financing the football operations".
The visits follow a previous trip to the Etihad stadium on the 10th February.
