Management School welcomes local businesses at the second “Breakfast Briefing” event
The Management School held the second session in a series of “Breakfast Briefings” on the Tuesday 21st February. The series encourages knowledge exchange between researchers at the university and potential industry collaborators.
Guests to the session included colleagues from local businesses, who were invited to listen to three short key note talks followed by an opportunity to network. Dr Hossein Sharifi and Dr Ron Dyer from the Management School spoke about the work of the Agility and Supply Chain Management Centre and its research across emerging digital technologies including applying serious gaming techniques. Ron also explained how those projects have transferable elements across sectors and industries.
The School also welcomed Professor Pam Kato, from the Serious Games Institute based at Coventry University, who spoke about how gamification can assist, but also potentially disrupt, the SME environment.
The agenda for the meeting was developed with the assistance of the British Interactive Media Association (BIMA), the largest networking group for those working across all digital sectors in the UK. The event was attended by BIMA’s representative for the Liverpool City Region, Ian Finch.
Director of the School, Professor Julia Balogun, said: “Our academic expertise should support local businesses and I am keen that research undertaken by academics across the School makes a difference to the region. As such, these quarterly Breakfast Briefings are a key way for the School to disseminate applied research to a diverse audience across the City”.
