‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ programme launches with trip to Bloomberg EU Headquarters in London
Top MSc students were invited to London to visit Bloomberg LP at their European Headquarters in Finsbury Square. This was part of the ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ programme, a new initiative set up by the Management School careers service aimed to aid students’ skills and career development.
At Bloomberg, students were taught the significance of Bloomberg’s ‘Terminal’ systems. These systems are responsible for Bloomberg’s professional service offering and monitor and analyse real-time financial data. The MSc students were able to see first-hand its capability in providing market information in real-time.
During the trip, MSc students also had the opportunity to visit the University of Liverpool in London campus. Whilst there, they were able to participate in a networking event and a presentation from Don Leslie, a leading figure in the management consultancy recruitment field. Don offered 20 years’ worth of industry-specific expertise to students and also gave the opportunity for a one-to-one CV consultation.
Tom Davis, an MSc Management student who is participating in the programme commented: ‘Mr Leslie has decades of experience within one of the most sought after graduate roles. The quality of information on offer was second to none – as expected from a recruitment agency awarded best-in-industry for 8 consecutive years.’
Sadie Lawty, the dedicated MSc careers advisor who organised the programme said: ‘The ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ programme has been set up by the ULMS postgraduate careers team to give MSc students the opportunity to develop their employability skills and launch their careers. It will help students build links with national and international blue-chip companies and let those companies see the very best of Liverpool University.
The student response has been overwhelming and with just 20 places available in this inaugural year, we have been hugely over-subscribed. The students taking part will gain precious insight and valuable experience which will serve them well in their future professional lives.’
The trip forms the first of three for those students enrolled on the ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ programme, with trips to Airbus (UK headquarters) and Santander (global headquarters) to follow.
