Jeremy Nicholls, the Chief Executive of the Social Return on Investment (SROI) Network, spoke as part of the University of Liverpool Management School Guest Speaker Series with his presentation, ‘Managing Value, Changing the World’. The talk emphasised the importance of measuring the social, economic and environmental impact of an organisation’s work.

SROI is an international membership organisation for those interested in non-finacial value. Jeremy, who is also Director of the FRC Group, a Liverpool-based business, explained how the company's framework, which is based on social accounting principles, can be used to manage, understand and increase the value created by public, private and voluntary sector organisations.

As well as drawing on his own experience of finacial accountability within business he also addressed the issue on a global scale. He addressed the challenges in managing both financial and non-financial value and explained how the latter can be used to drive business performance and success.

The session was followed by a networking session which gave students the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the topic further with the speaker.
